School Teachers Review Body
26th October 2015
School Teachers Review Body remit for changes for Teachers Pay and Conditions for 2016.
The latest letter from Nicky Morgan was sent to the STRB earlier in October 2015.
Key headlines are
- average pay award of 1%
- pay awards should be applied in a targeted manner to support the delivery of public services and to address recruitment and retention pressures. This may mean that some staff could receive more than 1% while others could receive less, but that there should not be an expectation that every employee will receive a 1% award.
- Particular focus on recruitment and retention issues as schools are now best placed to decide how pay awards can be targeted to meet their specific local recruitment and retention needs.
- progression pay; the modernisation of terms and conditions; and the continued need for pay restraint
- additional flexibilities that could be introduced to support schools, such as allowing teachers to move down from the upper pay range to the main pay range and the possibility of non-consolidated payments.
